Doris Dreher

On Thursday September 26, 2019, Doris Dreher, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 84.

Doris Zoch Dreher, was born February 2, 1935 to Luther and Esther Zoch in Ashland, PA. She was the oldest of 9 children: Carol Hoppes, Dorothy Lewis, Luther Zoch, Marian Klingman, Linda White, Betty Ballard, Russell Zoch, and Ruth Swank. In 1953 she married John Dreher, they were blessed with four children: Donna (Frantz), John, Jeffrey and Brian. Doris loved being a mother and was so proud of being a grandmother. She had a major part in helping raise Jason following the death of Donna in 1980. Again she was fortunate enough to have a big part in helping raise Jeffrey’s twins, Shane and Dylan. For many years she was an integral part of the West End Youth Center where she and John spent hours every day making sure that it was a successful place for the youth of Allentown. Brian brought her happiness with two more grandsons, Sean and Chad. John added to her grandmotherly love with two sons, Aaron and Tyler. All total: 4 children, 5 grandsons and 4 great grandchildren.

Most of her life was spent in Pennsylvania, raising her family. Pennsylvania was in her blood and she often talked about her sisters, brothers, friends and neighbors. Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays were made special by John and Doris who entertained her large family of parents, aunts, uncles, siblings and their families. Family vacation stories were always high on her list of topics with the fun and antics of children, pets and sports that she was so involved in. She was known by all her family as a fanatic of doing laundry and cleaning. Bingo players at West End Youth Center looked forward to her great soups and wonderful pies that she made every week. After the passing of husband John and son Jeffrey, she moved to California to be near John and Brian and their families.

Funeral service will be held at Trexler Funeral Home at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 8, with graveside service to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
