James F. Wescoe Sr

James Franklin Wescoe Sr, 87 of Allentown passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025 at Cedarbrook Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of Mary Alice (Thomson) Wescoe, whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. James was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Howard and Grace (DeRemer) Wescoe. Jim graduated from William Allen High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After diacharge from the Navy, Jim worked a short time for Freihofer's and Office Utilities, but then moved onto the job he proudly served in for years, as a Firefighter with the Allentown Fire Department. Throughout his life, Jim was a faithful member of the Allentown, Macungie and most recently, Brookside Church of the Nazarene. He spent his life walking with and serving the Lord. There wasn't a person or need he saw, that he didn't try to help and meet. He spent his life truly serving others. His most important wish was that his family and friends loved the Lord just the same. Jim enjoyed watching football, baseball, and basketball. His love for the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Orioles, and Boston Celtics was unmatched. He loved playing baseball for many teams throughout his life. He most recently ended his softball career with the Allentown Patriots Old-timers, where he made some of the best friends and whom he shared many good memories with of ballgames and breakfast get-togethers. When he wasn't playing ball, he was most definitely spending time with his family. There was never a time when he wasn't being followed by a grandchild or great grandchild, and he took every opportunity to share Jesus with them, tell funny jokes, or teach them how to do something new. His family loved him beyond measure. In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by his Son James F. Wescoe Jr and wife Esther, daughter Pam Warmkessel and husband William, Grandchildren Allyson Miles and husband Ryan, Amber Warmkessel, Evan Wescoe and Wife Rebecca, Great-Grandchildren Ava, Grace, Gia, Liam, and Cole, Brother Rev. William Wescoe and Wife Janet. Many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by great-grandson Micah, and sisters Mildred Gutekunst, Betty Lapp and Alice Fritz. Services will be held on Saturday January 18, 2025 at Brookside Community Church of the Nazarene 3800 Brookside Rd Macungie, PA 18062. Viewing will be from 10:00am to 11:00am with service to follow. There will be a private burial at a later date for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Brookside Community Church of the Nazarene.
