Phyllis J. Wetzel

Phyllis J. Wetzel, 90, of Allentown, entered into eternal rest on Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Kermit G. Wetzel, who had died in 2005. Born in Cetronia, she was the daughter of the late Earl M. and Edna P. (Shellhammer) Schantzenbach. She was a longtime member of Cedar Lutheran Church, Allentown. Phyllis, in addition to being a housekeeper, was the bookkeeper/secretary for her husband’s contracting business, she also was an Avon Sales Associate and was a dedicated supporter of her husband’s longtime Volunteer Firefighting career, in addition to being a charter/lifetime member of the Cetronia Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, painting, and playing the organ and piano. Surviving is a son Daryl Wetzel and wife Betty of Lenhartsville PA, a daughter Kathy Shoemaker and husband Robert of Alburtis, grandchildren Jenna Sell, Justin Shoemaker, Wade Wetzel and great grandchildren Keira, Brady, Leyton, Hudson and Marlowe. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown PA 18102, with interment to follow at Cedar Lutheran Cemetery, Allentown. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Contributions in Phyllis’s memory may be made to Cedar Lutheran Church c/o the Funeral Home.
