Marguerite E. Davis, 102, of Whitehall, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 25th in Easton. She was the wife of the late James E. Davis, who died in 1960. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. Jr. and Virginia (Cephas) Jones. A 1938 graduate of Allentown High School, Marguerite's work was in nursing, having served at St. Bellevue Hospital in New York City and then at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown. She was a longtime and active member of St. James AME Zion Church in Allentown, serving as an Usher and was a daughter of Lehigh Temple #930 and Shining Light Temple #2, and also a 50-year member of the "This is your Life" group, and was a Volunteer at the Gross Towers Senior Center. Marguerite loved bingo, casino trips, her weekly cards and games, crocheting and family trips. Surviving is a daughter Barbara L. Davis of Whitehall, grandchildren Lynn M. Speight of Wheaton MD, Vickie R. Davis-King and husband Steve of Laurel MD, Terrie L. Dixon of Tampa FL, nine (9) great grandchildren, seven (7) great great grandchildren, a great niece Sharon L. Ronemus of Glen Burnie MD, a great nephew Richard Thompson and wife Winsome of Fountain Hill, additional great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was pre-deceased by brothers Joseph W. Jr. and Benjamin F. Jones and sisters Sarah Thompson, Edith Darling and Virginia Sams. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 31st at 2:00 p.m. at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown PA. A calling hour will be held on Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. James AME Zion Church, c/o the Funeral Home.
