Phyllis C. Sayre

Phyllis C. Sayre, 86, of Allentown, died Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Phoebe Allentown Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Floyd E. “Pete” Sayre. Born October 29, 1935 in Allentown she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Catherine (Brown) Herman. Throughout her life Phyllis primarily focused her love and attention on helping and enjoying her family and close friends. She deeply loved our Lord and as time allowed helped with the needs of the church she attended. No doubt everyone knew Phyllis for being an excellent seamstress. Amazingly, there wasn’t almost anything she didn’t or couldn’t make or mend. She never missed an opportunity to play a good game of Scrabble, or games in general, and enjoyed her Bingo. She had an adventurous side for traveling to see beautiful, fun things and believe it or not loved fast cars. Her support of others came to them by her rolling up her sleeves and doing what needed to be done, but also in a major way by simply compassionately just listening to them. She had a strong inner strength as a woman, as a wife, as a mother and grandmother, and as a friend. She always felt blessed to have her family and friends but really it is them who felt blessed to have her and her unconditional love in their lives. Surviving are her daughters, Christine Moore (Paul) of The Villages, FL, Cynthia Berner (Charles) of Center Valley, Diane Torres of Palmerton, Kim Brett (Arthur) of Palmerton, Tammy Rutt (Kevin) of Allentown; sons, Peter Sayre (Diana) of Whitehall, and Richard Sayre (Rosie Dorward) of Allentown; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step daughter, Shannon Stewart. Services: Calling from 9:30-10:30 AM, Thursday, June 2nd at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM.
