Dolores A Bower

Dolores Ann (Hutchinson) Bower was born in Uniontown, PA, on March 27, 1931, to Ann Bittner Hutchinson and Thomas Hutchinson and was a 1948 graduate of Uniontown High School. She was a long-time member of the Nativity Lutheran Church of Allentown. Dolores is survived by a brother, Thomas Hutchinson of Fairchance and his son Thomas A Hutchinson, also of Fairchance, two step daughters, Susan Diehl, husband Ed and children Tara Hollifield, husband Jeff and children Logan, Kelli, and Brandon, Gregory Diehl, wife Amy, and children Lindsey and Connor, stepdaughter Judith A Bower, nephew John R Hutchinson (Jack) along with his children: Jennifer Janusek, husband Joseph and children, Jeff Hutchinson, wife Missy and children, daughter Jill McLean, husband Ryan, and children and daughter Jacyn Liquori, husband Michael, and children. Wiliam H Bower, a stepson, is deceased. Dolores moved to Allentown, PA when she was young and worked in accounting at the Dixie Cup factory in Easton PA. While in Allentown at church, she met and later married William E Bower, Vice President of Weaver Fuels. They had a long happy marriage and shared many traveling adventures, many with her brother Tom and wife June or Bill’s family. As a youth, Dolores won the Little Miss Uniontown Pageant circa 1940. She also competed in beauty contests and fashion show modeling in the Uniontown area. Dolores overcame many medical challenges in her life and always faced them head-on and won. She also had a knack for coming through in the clutch. Once when given a cognitive test by her doctor, she not only passed the test, but recited the Gettysburg Address at the end. Special thanks to her wonderful neighbors Kevin and Jennifer Rodgers and sons for assisting Dolores for the past 25 years whether it was to carry Christmas decorations from the basement or retrieve a patio table umbrella that took flight to the roof. Many thanks to the amazing caregivers from: Right At Home, Lehigh Commons Assisted Living, and Serenity Hospice. They took great care of her, and she kept them laughing. Arrangements for the burial will be private.
