Alvin Owen "Al" Ott

Alvin Owen “Al” Ott, 85, of Allentown, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Clifford and Dorothy (Hill) Ott. Brother of the late Elizabeth Davis and brother-in-law of the late Robert Davis. Al graduated from William Allen High School in 1953 and studied accounting at Penn State University. He worked in the accounting department at Freihofer’s Bakery, Stanley Vidmar and Mack Trucks until retiring. He worked part-time at Air Products and Chemicals, Freeman Jewelers, and was a realtor at Norman Miller Real Estate. After retirement, Al worked in the Ft. Myers, FL and Allentown Walgreens Drug Stores. He was a volunteer and board member of the Allentown VFW and the Mercantile Club in Emmaus. During his spare time, he enjoyed bartending at various restaurants throughout the Lehigh Valley. For many years, Al enjoyed staying at his second house in Florida for several months in the winter, he enjoyed golfing at the Lexington Golf Club where he was a board member. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, skiing, sail boating, hiking, exercising, and traveling throughout the world. Al’s greatest pleasure in life was his devotion to his family and he loved cooking for them. Survivors: daughter Denise K. wife of Todd S. Miller; son David C. and wife, Jeanine; grandchildren, Adam and Dana Miller; Lauren wife of Andrew Weaver and Heather Ott; His adopted grandchildren, Matthew Leibensperger and Dana Gurst; great-granddaughters, Avery and Piper Weaver. Nieces: Deborah wife of Mark Faulkner, Donna wife of Brian Kresge; great nephew, Mitchell Kresge; great niece, Kiley Kresge. Former wife, Anna M. (Kratzer) Ott. His loving cat, Suzi Q.. He was predeceased by his loving cats, Pixie, Tammie, Reggie, Reggie Jr., Calico and Psycho. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
