Edward R. Strauch, 89, of Allentown, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Dolores A. (Stettler) Strauch. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on October 10th. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Rudolf and Hermine (Müllner) Strauch. Before retiring, Edward worked as a purchasing agent for Freihofer Baking Co. for 25 years, and later for Hawk Flour Mills and Levine’s Fabrics. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army in Karlsruhe, Germany. He was a former member of the Boy’s Club of Allentown Alumni, the Austrian-Hungarian Veterans’ Society, the Allgemeiner Arbeiter-Verein, the Harugari Home Association, and the Coplay Sängerbund. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles & Phillies fan and Austrian button accordian player.

Survivors: wife, Dolores; sons, Edward R. Jr and Robert M., both of Allentown; daughter, Brenda A. Blum of Whitehall; grandchildren, Jason Blum of Langhorne, Kristen (Pete) Kwasnjuk of North Wales, and Lt. Hannah (Chris) Stark of Okinawa, Japan; and great-grandsons Peter and JJ Kwasnjuk. He was predeceased by brothers, Rudolph Jr. and John; and sister, Irene Marcin.

Services with military honors: 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 29 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown, PA 18104. Calling will begin at 9:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Allentown, in care of the funeral home.
