Ruth N. Thomas, 86, of Allentown, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Silas N. Thomas. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Speller and Penelope Oliver. Before retiring in 1994, she worked as a silicon chip bonder at in the chip cleaning room of Western Electric for over 20 years. She was a member of Third Tabernacle Beth El, Plainfield, NJ.

Ruth enjoyed playing baseball and was a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers until they moved to LA! She liked to regularly visit the casino to play the one-armed bandit. She loved having fun with her friends whether they were dancing or playing water volleyball. Most importantly, she loved her family and her church and was deeply devoted to both.

Survivors, sons K. Gordon, Mark N. and his wife Victoria, and R. Barry, daughters, Bolade Rasul, all of Allentown, Sheila J. Thomas Person, and her husband John of Raleigh, NC, step daughter, Deborah J. Thomas-Benson of Brooklyn, NY, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother John Oliver.

Services, 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 27 at First Tabernacle Beth El, 602 Broad St., Philadelphia. Calling hours 6-8 p.m. Saturday May 26 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St., Allentown and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at First Tabernacle Beth El.
